Global Study: Growing Pentecostal Churches Have Social Mission

Voice of America featured the Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative in an article and video about Pentecostalism being the fastest-growing form of Christianity. PCRI is coordinated by CRCC Executive Director Don Miller and funded by the John Templeton Foundation.

Miller was quoted in the story describing contemporary Pentecostalism and the preliminary findings from PCRI, which have revealed that Pentecostal churches have expanded their emphasis to include community service and social outreach programs.

“And if someone is sick, they are helped,” he told Voice of America about the role that the new Pentecostal churches are taking on. “And if someone is poor, they are assisted with a job or food, and they really become like extended families.”
