Institute for Violence Prevention
The Clergy and Lay Institute for Violence Prevention informed, trained, and provided networking opportunities for community leaders to deal with community violence issues. The Institute offered training from scholars, prevention practitioners, and law enforcement officials. Seminars included case studies and presentations on successful gang prevention and intervention programs. Another component of the program, which received grant support from the California Endowment, involved mapping and assessing the capacity of congregations in three Los Angeles Gang Reduction Youth Development (GRYD) Zones in South Los Angeles.
