CRCC Annual Faculty Research Awards
Beginning in fall of 2009, the Center for Religion and Civic Culture will grant up to five CRCC Faculty Research Awards of up to $5,000 each to eligible USC faculty members, to be used for research related to religion.
Funds may not be used for course buy-out or salary, but otherwise are available for any legitimate research purpose, e.g. data collection, travel to archives or conferences, equipment justified by the research project, hiring of research assistants, web design or multimedia support, and expenses for research workshops or other scholarly events.
Candidates must be:
- USC faculty (tenured, tenure-track, or non-tenure track)
- Regular participants in CRCC-sponsored Annual Seminars (Transnational Charisma and Traveling Spirits Seminar, 2009-2010; Religion and Public Life Seminar, 2008-2009; or Visualizing Religion Seminar, 2007-2008) and/or Working Group on Religion and Material Culture (beginning 2009-2010)
TO APPLY please submit the following materials by NOVEMBER 13, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
- A narrative research proposal of no more than three double-spaced pages describing your project and how it relates to, or advances the study of, religion. The proposal should also include a statement of project goals and proposed outcomes.
- A CV of no more than two pages
- A budget of one page indicating how and when funds will be used

Proposals will be reviewed by CRCC's Academic Advisory Council and the research awards announced by November 20, 2009. Funding will be available as of January 1, 2010 and must be used by November 30, 2010.
