Transmission of Religion Across Generations
The Transmission of Religion Across Generations project examined patterns of religious experience and the consequences of these patterns for individual and family well-being among participants in USC’s 35-year Longitudinal Study of Generations. The John Templeton Foundation provided grant funding to mine the LSOG for data related to religion and families as well as conduct interviews with families in the study. Researchers produced a number of publications and paper presentations at international meetings. Vern L. Bengtson, research professor of gerontology and professor emeritus of sociology, and Donald Miller served as co-principal investigators. The project team included Dr. Norella M. Putney, project director, Dr. Susan C. Harris, interview director, and Dr. Merril Silverstein, research director.
