The USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture has signed a contract with Bloomsbury to produce the new series, Bloomsbury Studies in Religion and Civic Culture, with an ambitious 13 titles to be published over the next five years. The series will focus on empirical studies at the intersection of theory and practice, and investigates the nexus of religion, spirituality and public life in a rapidly changing world.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the CRCC at the University of Southern California to publish cutting-edge research on the ongoing role and power of religion in the public sphere,” said Lalle Pursglove, the editorial director for religion at Bloomsbury. “Bloomsbury brings global distribution and marketing to the center’s renowned research. The series will influence future scholarship in religion and civic life, as well as provide key resources for faith and community leaders.”
CRCC staff and affiliates will write or edit the books. Each volume will be based on CRCC’s research and community projects, such as our global study of spiritual exemplars and our work on thriving congregations, compelling preaching and religious innovation. Additional volumes will be added in the future.
We are especially excited that these books will be available via open access (downloadable for free) and that each will include practical applications. This series will further our commitment to making scholarship accessible and bringing it into conversation with community.
Time to start writing!
