Congregations Affected by LA County Wildfires

In the wake of disasters, congregations and faith organizations often respond to the immediate physical needs of their members and neighbors, while also providing emotional and spiritual care to those who have experienced traumatic events. Congregations also assist with long-term recovery and rebuilding.

The January 2025 wildfires across Los Angeles County activated faith communities, but the fires also destroyed a significant number of houses of worship. Faith leaders have had to help their members while also dealing with the loss of congregational property and often their own homes.

The USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture (CRCC) has compiled a list of congregations affected by the Eaton and Pacific Palisades fires.

Congregations Affected LA County Wildfires – January 2025

How to use this list

Support these congregations:

  • Please give directly to the congregations or approved fundraising efforts.
  • Give money, not goods. Many donation centers are overwhelmed with goods.

Partner with these congregations:

  • Even if congregations did not lose their physical property, many have more congregants than they can help alone. Other congregations can partner with affected congregations to help better understand the needs of their communities and reach individuals in need.
  • The public and private sector can reach groups in need by partnering with faith groups on wildfire relief. Please see resources below.
