In 2013, CRCC obtained a database of religious congregations in the five-county region that makes up Southern California. We have worked extensively with the database to make it more easily useable for researchers who are interested in pursuing questions related to religion and place in Southern California. The database includes in spreadsheet form, counts of religious congregations in Southern California, collected at three different points in time, 1997, 2009, and 2013. This allows researchers not only to analyze religious groups in different parts of Southern California, but to track change in the religious presence over time.
This database is available for download for researchers and community leaders who are interested in understanding religion in Southern California. These data can be utilized in conjunction with other relevant publicly accessible data such as is available from the Census Bureau and other public agencies.
