Judy Silber is a radio producer and the project director for KALW’s The Spiritual Edge. After receiving a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Washington University in St. Louis, she went on to earn a M.A. in science journalism from Boston University. From there, she worked as a city reporter for the Orange County bureau of the Los Angeles Times, where among many other topics she wrote about the science of cleaning up a foul-smelling dump and new clinical therapies for Multiple Sclerosis. From Los Angeles, Judy headed north for the Bay Area and the Contra Costa Times where she covered the biotechnology industry and the business of health care. After diving deep into spirituality by way of Judaism and Buddhism, she began producing stories about spirituality for KALW News. She helped design and launch KALW’s reporting project, The Spiritual Edge, which has been producing stories about change in innovation in religion and spirituality since 2014.
