The Great Commandment: Theology & Social Science in Dialogue was a two-day seminar held Oct. 22-23, 2010 at Vanguard University sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation and co-hosted by the Flame of Love Research Project (www.godlyloveproject.org) focusing on what the scholars have termed Godly Love or “the dynamic interaction between divine and human love that enlivens and expands benevolence.” A team of noted social scientists and theologians has been meeting for three years to discuss research findings reflecting the role that a vital personal relationship with God plays in acts of human benevolence. Although the focus has been on Pentecostal (broadly defined) expressions of spirituality, results of a national survey provide for broader comparisons.
CRCC Executive Director Donald Miller and Director of Research Richard Flory participated in the conference.
