Dr. Lewis spoke about healthcare and health when it comes to public policy issues in the African American community.
“If you’re not at the table, you’re on the table,” she said.
Lewis’ areas of research consistently focus on cultural competency and the health status and health care needs of underrepresented groups. She is currently involved in addressing racial disparities cardiovascular disease and diabetes through the Community Health Councils, Inc., African American Building a Legacy of Health Project.
