Farrell, a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 1974 until 1991, took PTM fellows through the history of politics in the city of Los Angeles.
Four days later, he took the class on a Freedom Ride through models of civic engagement and churches throughout South Central LA, including the First AME Church, which was once famously led by Rev. Dr. Cecil Murray.
